Perched on its Pech, the Bastide de Monflanquin was created in 1256 by Alphonse de Poitiers. It has been classified as "Most Beautiful Villages of France" since 1989 and a Green Holiday Resort. This "new town" of the Middle Ages, takes again the characteristics of the country houses : an orthogonal plan with its cart and cross streets, its central square and its arcades. Its Gothic church, its carrérots and the House known as the "Black Prince" make it its particularity
