Perched on its Pech, the Bastide de Monflanquin was created in 1256 by Alphonse de Poitiers. It has been classified as "Most Beautiful Villages of France" since 1989 and a Green Holiday Resort. This "new town" of the Middle Ages, takes again the characteristics of the country houses : an orthogonal plan with its cart and cross streets, its central square and its arcades.
